GEARS OF WAR: ULTIMATE EDITION

It’s been almost a decade since former war hero Marcus Fenix hit our 360s with all guns – and then some - blazing. Many a Locust Horde has been decimated over ensuing years, and the time’s now right for more buggy genocide. OK, so it isn’t the forthcoming Xbone exclusive Gears of War 4 (due late in 2016), but this remaster makes for a mighty sweet stopgap. The original romp has been redone from the ground up, with some 90 minutes of added campaign, 60fps graphics, a whole heap of multiplayer tweaks and even Dolby 7.1 sound for those few who can afford that many speakers. Hey Locust, SUCK PAVEMENT!

It’s almost that time again. The time for wardrobe malfunctions, left sharks and even some heavily- padded blokes chucking a pointy footy around what looks like a giant green chessboard. Yes, it’s Madden time! As fans will know, the game has been polished over its illustrious lifespan so much that it’s hard to imagine it being shinier. But those EA Sports folks are clever, and they’ve added even more layers of sparkle. Wirecams, on-field cameras beyond what’s sane in real life and more realistic crowds head up the cosmetics. Nuts and bolts-wise there’s an improved skills trainer and a new fantasy football mode. Now, let us hear you roar! MADDEN NFL 16
