Awake beneath the ignorant vault of Night, He saw the unnumbered people of the stars And heard the questioning of the unsatisfied flood And toiled with the form-maker, measuring Mind. A wanderer from the occult invisible suns Accomplishing the fate of transient things, A god in the figure of the arisen beast, He raised his brow of conquest to the heavens

Etait à nouveau prêt pour de grands actes rapides. Eveillé sous la voûte ignorante de la Nuit, Il contemplait le peuple innombrable des étoiles, Entendait la plainte insatisfaite de la vie Et peinait avec le Mental qui forme et mesure. Un vagabond venu des soleils invisibles Accomplir le destin des choses transitoires, Un dieu dans la figure dressée de la bête, Il leva vers le ciel son front de conquête Etablissant ainsi le royaume de l’âme Sur la Matière et son univers limité Comme sur un roc dans des mers infinies. Le Seigneur de la Vie reprit ses rondes Dans le champ restreint du globe ambigu.
