Table 11 – Results obtained for Zn in Infant Formulas and Pediatric/Adult Nutritionals

ND = Not determined (< 8 participating labs)

4.

Conclusions:

Relative standard deviation for reproducibility (RSD

R

), recovery (compared to assigned

values) and Horrat values are in general satisfactory compared to SMPR for all elements in

all matrixes ranging between 0.016 mg/100g (Mn) and 683.2 mg/100g (K). These results

confirm data obtained during first study published in 2009 and MLT published in 2012 for

fortified food products including an infant formula with the following result displayed in

table 12 below (Reference:

J. AOAC Int

.

95

, 177(2012)):

Table 12 - Results obtained for 9 elements in Infant Formula Powder Partially Hydrolyzed

Milk Based

Based on data from MLT performed for fortified products including one infant formula and

on these current data of 6 performance tests, it is recommended that AOAC 2011.14 is fit

for purpose to analyze Calcium, Copper, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Potassium,

Phosphorus, Sodium, and Zinc in Infant formulae and Pediatric/Adult Nutritionals.
