Working with athletes, some of them

champions, can seem glamorous. For
sports medicine experts, though, the thrill
of their job goes beyond glamour. As physical therapist
Keith Steigbigel (left) says, “You wake up . . . and you’re
going to make someone feel better with just your hands,
and that’s not something everybody can say they do.”
But as with any job, working as a physical therapist or other
sports medicine professional has some challenges that go along
with rewards. Here’s a look at some of those challenges.
A Long Day
For people in sports medicine, their day-to-day realities depend
a lot on the setting in which they work. A PT, for example,
