Lake Water Levels

Lake Victoria highest water level ever

recorded is 13.34 meters in May 1964 and

the lowest is 10.46 meters in October 2006;

a difference of 2.88 meters.

The highest water level was attributed to

heavy rains (El Niño) that occurred in 1963,

while the lowest level can be attributed to

drought conditions over the lake basin (La

Niña) from 1999.

From 1948 L. Albert highest water level

recorded is 14.16 meters in June 1963 and

the lowest is 9.61 meters in March 1951; a

different of 4.55 meters.

The highest level was attributed to the

1963 heavy rains (El Niño)
