B
oth Boughton and McGill are based in the new purpose-built
WorleyParsons office complex in Melrose Arch, Johannes-
burg, but their brief extends over the entire sub-Saharan Afri-
ca region. “We’re confident that Advisian
will be a strong driver of growth in our
African operations,” says Boughton. “Technical
consulting and advisory services are the necessary
prelude to project implementation and the more
success we have at the ‘front end’ of the project
cycle, the more likely it is that the WorleyParsons
group will be involved in the ‘build’ phase. So if we
want to grow – as we do – the African business
of WorleyParsons, then Advisian has a criti-
cal role to play.”
Although Advisian was conceptualised and established last
year, its roll-out on a global basis – including the sub-Saharan
Africa region – dates back to 1 July this year. “On this date
Advisian was launched worldwide with over 3 000 employees
in 19 countries,” Boughton says. “Here in South Africa, this
saw the transitioning of around 90 employees, who were previ-
ously part of WorleyParsons RSA, into Advisian, which is an
independent business line within WorleyParsons with its own
management and reporting structures.”
Explaining the background to Advisian, Boughton says
a key step leading to its establishment was the acquisition by
WorleyParsons several years ago of Evans & Peck, an Australian-
based company providing high-end business advisory services to
Advisian –

The traditional technical consulting business of global engineering group
WorleyParsons has now been integrated into a new business line of the
group known as Advisian, which combines under ‘one roof’ high-level
strategic management advisory services with strong engineering and
technical expertise. Advisian operates worldwide with its African arm
being led by Regional Executive Manager Adam Boughton.
