Oil Cargo pump line-up

Three Steam-driven crude oil Cargo pumps can be lined up

for a variety of different services including:

• Cargo transfer between tanks

• Cargo offloading (to shuttle tanker)

• Tank stripping

• Tank washing

Incorrect line-up, or omission of closure of isolation valves

can result in the over-pressurisation of the suction piping

and/or gas separator vessel.

Some scenarios are slow developing, thanks to the slow

run-up time of the Cargo pumps.

However, where hazards are caused by a valve opening,

because the system is liquid filled, the PST is milliseconds.
