A use involving on-site extraction of surface or subsurface mineral products or natural resources. Typical
uses are quarries, borrow pits, sand and gravel operations, mining, and soil mining. Specifically
excluded from this use is grading and removal of dirt associated with an approved Site Plan or
subdivision or excavations associated with, and for the improvement of, a bona fide farm.

That part of the planning jurisdiction of the Town located outside the Town’s corporate boundaries,
established and amended from time to time in accordance with N.C.G.S. 160A-360.

The entire exterior wall of a building facing a lot line measured from the grade to the eave or highest
point of a flat or mansard roof. Facades may be on the front, side, or rear elevation of the building.

The vertical surface or surfaces within 15 degrees of vertical on the building’s exterior including parapet
walls. Windows, doors, and cornices are excluded.

One or more persons occupying a single dwelling unit and living together as a single housekeeping unit,
provided that the unit is made up of any number of persons related by blood, marriage, adoption, or
foster care arrangement, plus up to three additional unrelated persons.

A home with support and supervisory personnel that provides room and board, personal care and
habilitation services in a family environment for not more than six resident persons with disabilities.
Persons with disabilities means a person with a temporary or permanent physical, emotional, or mental
disability including but not limited to mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, hearing and
sight impairments, emotional disturbances and orthopedic impairments but not including mentally ill
persons who are dangerous to others as defined in N.C.G.S. 122C-3(11)b.

A private residence where care, protection, and supervision are provided for a fee, on a regular
schedule, at least twice a week, to no more than six children (including any children of the day care
provider).

A single tract of land, or identifiable portion of a tract, used for the production, and activities relating or
incidental to the production, of crops, fruits, vegetables, ornamental and flowering plants, dairy,
livestock, poultry, and all other forms of agriculture as defined in N.C.G.S. 106-581.1e, along with any
other buildings and structures that are customarily and necessarily incidental to such activities.
