Winery Overview
For over 100 years, the Bera family has demonstrated their rich knowledge of the Langhe area, initially growing and
supplying grapes to prominent wineries of the Piemonte region and eventually crafting renowned artisanal wines
of their own. With deep roots in Piemonte’s winemaking history, the Bera family began vinification and bottling of
their own label in 1979, shortly after current owner and head winemaker, Valter Bera, graduated from the Enological
School of Alba.
Location of Vineyards
Located in the small, bucolic town of Neviglie, the vineyards are surrounded with breathtaking views of the Alps and
the Tanaro River. This small, family owned and operated winery spans several acres in Alba and Asti, two classic
Piemonteese grape growing areas famous for robust reds and refreshing whites. This hilly area southeast of the river
Tanaro, is famous for its wines, cheeses and truffles — particularly the white truffles of Alba. The Bera vineyards
thrive in soil rich with clay, limestone and volcanic rock. The southeast hillside location ranges from 1,050 to
1,247 feet above sea level, benefiting from continuous wind.
Winemaking Philosophy
With great passion and desire, the Bera family strives to respect to the tradition of the territory. Their winemaking
philosophy is simple: from the cultivation of the grapes, to the winemaking philosophy and bottling, quality is
their first priority. Bera vines are mainly Moscato, with Moscato d’Asti a primary Bera specialty. Additionally, Asti
Spumante has become a prime focus. Now almost exclusively produced by larger companies, Bera strives to return
this historic wine to its small winery roots.

Winery Overview
Castello di Neive and the surrounding 150 acre estate are owned by the Stupino family, siblings Anna, Giulio,
Italo and Piera. The Castello di Neive winery began when Giacomo Stupino, the family patriarch, capitalized on
his experience as a surveyor and his knowledge of the area to purchase favorable vineyards and land whenever
possible. Over time, their acquired vineyards grew to include land in Santo Stefano and Marcorino.
Location of Vineyard
The cellars of Castello di Neive are extremely large, clearly demonstrating the designers’ optimism that the winery’s
quality would be easily recognized. Castello di Neive comprises a 150 acre estate, all within the Neive town council,
in the Langhe area of the Piemonte region. Sixty-two acres of the property are devoted to grape growing and all the
production (approximately 12,000 cases a year), is obtained from Castello di Neive’s own vines.
Winemaking Philosophy
Tradition, research and creativity make up the philosophy of the Castello di Neive winery. The Stupino family crafts
exceptional wines from Nebbiolo as well as the often overlooked Barbera and Dolcetto. Also included in the line-up
are the local favorites Grignolino and Langhe Pinot Nero.
