Winery Overview
For three generations, the Maculan family has been selecting and vinifying the best grapes in the village of
Breganze, at the foot of the Alps. While the surrounding mountains protect the area from cold winds, creating
a perfect microclimate for the cultivation of vineyards, it is Fausto Maculan’s drive and commitment that sets
these wines apart and distinguishes Maculan as an innovative, dynamic winery. Fausto Maculan has received
numerous accolades from the world’s most esteemed wine critics, and in 2007, Angela and Maria Vittoria,
Fausto’s daughters, officially joined Maculan’s operations. Angela travels the world to represent the winery and
Maria graduated from the Oenological and Viticulture Science University of Padua, following in her father’s
winemaking footsteps.
Location of Vineyards
The Maculan farm comprises 37 acres of estate owned vineyards in the charming town of Breganze. Located in the
Veneto region, Maculan also has contracts with growers of another 125 vineyard acres within the Breganze DOC.
The location of Breganze at the southernmost foothills of the Dolomite Alps provides perfect southern exposures
along with protection from central European winters.
Winemaking Philosophy
Designed by Fausto himself, the winery is one of the most stunning small wineries in Italy with an amazing mixture
of ingenuity and style. The architecture provides the theatre for a marvelous combination of antique tradition
and modern innovation using the latest winemaking technology. Long held family traditions are respected from
using specially selected vineyards and the careful selection of grape bunches, to aging in new, small oak barrels, to
conservation of the grapes on racks for the production of Torcolato. The fusion of tradition and innovation results in
a selection of fresh and fruity whites, well structured reds and delicious dessert wines.
