Dow Wire and Cable’s Simon Sutton,
European End-Use Marketing Manager,
has been appointed to the CIGRE
Strategic Advisory Group (SAG) for solid
insulating materials.
The SAG provides guidance to the Study
Committee chairman and proposes
topics for Working Groups within CIGRE’s
Materials and Emerging Test Techniques
Study Committee (SC D1) whose
scope includes, amongst others, cable
insulation, silicone rubber and epoxies.
“CIGRE is one of the most respected
international professional associations
involved in all aspects of technology for
electric power,” said Tim Laughlin, general
manager, DowWire & Cable.
“We are delighted that Simon was asked
to join this Advisory Group to share his
knowledge and expertise for the benefit
of the industry.”
Simon holds a Bachelors degree in
physics with subsidiary mathematics and
a Doctoral degree in physical properties
of polymers, both from the University of
Reading (UK). He is a Chartered Physicist
and Member of the Institute of Physics.
