11C-MET-PET versus 18F-FET-PET
•
Despite the considerable number of encouraging results,
the application of MET-PET in diagnosis of brain tumors
has been mainly limited to a small number of centers. The
short physical half-life of carbon-11 (20 min) necessitates
an on-site cyclotron for MET-PET examination, making the
utilization of this tracer for the PET investigation difficult.
•
In contrast to MET the physical half time for 18F of 110
minutes allows performing the FET-PET studies in centers
without an on-site cyclotron.
