Trelleborg appoints business unit president

to drive growth in pipe seals

Simon Burke has been appointed

president of Trelleborg’s pipe seals

operation. Based in Lelystad,

Netherlands, Mr Burke will be

responsible for the strategic direction,

growth and management of Trelleborg’s

pipe seals operation globally.

Mr Burke has almost ten years’

experience in business-to-business

sales and market development at

Trelleborg. He previously worked for five

years as commercial manager for pipe

seals in North America, after spending

four years as business development

manager in Singapore.

During his time at Trelleborg, Mr Burke

has developed and achieved growth in

key markets. He has an understanding

of the business on a global scale, from

technical application to sales.

Mr Burke commented, “Trelleborg’s

pipe seals operation has been through

many changes in the past decade, but

keeps growing and gaining recognition

throughout the industry.

“I am delighted to be given the

opportunity to help the company

flourish in the years to come in my new

role within the operation.

“It’s an exciting time for the pipe seals

business in all regions. The increase in

urbanisation and the pressure to preserve

clean water and provide sanitation

continues to grow exponentially. While

developed countries are looking to repair

or replace their ageing infrastructure and

invest in more sustainable solutions,

developing markets face a growing

demand for quality drinking water

networks and sanitation.”

The pipe seals operation is a supplier of

new and rehabilitation sealing solutions

for concrete, plastic pipes and manhole

structures used for water, sewerage

and drainage. Mr Burke’s predecessor,

Bill Hagenberg, has been appointed

president of Trelleborg’s fluid handling

solutions business.

Pipeline industry performance report

The Canadian Energy Pipeline Associ-

ation (CEPA) has released its third annu-

al Transmission Pipeline Industry Perfor-

mance Report, which reveals how the

association’s members are performing

in the areas of safety, the environment

and socio-economic contributions.

CEPA states that research continues

to show that safety and environmental

protection are top priorities for

Canadians when it comes to the

transmission pipeline industry. This

year’s report seeks to address these

issues by demonstrating what CEPA’s

members are doing collectively to

improve safety, minimise environmental

impacts and develop solutions regarding

the concerns Canadians have about the

industry’s operations and performance.

“We have a responsibility to be

open, consistent and accountable to

government, regulators, indigenous

groups and all stakeholders,” said Chris

Bayle, CEPA board chair, president and

CEO, Inter Pipeline. “CEPA members

strive to operate to the highest safety

standards, but know that there is always

room to improve. Each CEPA member

company is committed to collaborating

and going beyond regulation to

strengthen safety performance across

the entire industry.”
