Decorative luminaires for Imperial Mall
BEKA Schréder supplied Albany LED post top lu-
minaires to Imperial Mall, a state-of-the-art facility
in Entebbe, Uganda. Designed in aTuscan-inspired
architectural style, the decorative LED luminaire
enhances the aesthetic appeal of the popular new
shopping centre.
Entebbe, because of the Entebbe International
Airport, serves as a major gateway to Uganda. The
town, on a peninsula in Lake Victoria in Central
Uganda, is in the process of being expanded and
upgraded, and the de-
velopment is expected
to increase visitors in
and out of Entebbe.
The town is a popular
destination for locals
and tourists as an al-
ternative to Uganda’s
capital, Kampala, and
there is a distance of
only 37 km between
them. The Imperial
Mall was built to ser-
vice an ever-increasing
need for a stylish and
upmarket shopping
experience.
Manufactured in Af-
rica, the Albany LED
was chosen for its aes-
thetic appeal and for
its performance. The
benefits of LED tech-
nology provide power-
saving advantages and
low maintenance requirements, making it ideally
suited for this project.

able in two sizes.With a range of LED photometric
engines and its timeless form, it is suitable for a
wide range of applications and offers numerous
bracket options. Equipped with state-of-the-art
LED technology, this classic luminaire is ready to
improve the quality, comfort and safety of a lighting
installation while offering significant energy savings
and reduced CO2 emissions.
Positioned directly alongside the LEDs is
ThermiX®, an electronic temperature monitoring
system that prevents overheating of LEDs and
the power supply, thereby ensuring maximum
expected LED lifetime and performance over time.
The flexibility of the LensoFlex®2 photometric en-
gine allows for multiple light distributions to ensure
that the specific requirements of each application
are met. Furthermore, the options for varying the
number of LEDs allows for a precise adaptation of
the nominal power of the luminaire according to
the area that is to be lit. Additional features, such
as a custom dimming profile, can be included to
improve energy savings.

efficiency, low glare and symmetrical distribution
is ideal for parking areas, parks and gardens, resi-
dential areas, and squares and plazas.
Made of LM06 die cast aluminium, the high
quality fitting is designed to operate a range of
LEDs up to 54 W. The LED (4000 K natural white,
with a CRI of >70 is recommended) is an Osram
high powered LED mounted onto an aluminium
circuit board – 19 or 27 LED option. At an ambient
temperature of 25 °C, the lumen maintenance is
90% at 45 000 hours and 70% at 100 000 hours.
The electronic power supply is suitable for opera-
tion at 220 - 240V, 50 H single phase. It incorporates
an electronic trip connector protector with surge
protection of 6 kV, with an additional removable
inline surge arrester of 10 kV. All external screws are
stainless steel and the gaskets are manufactured
from post cured silicone rubber material – silicone
gaskets perform in a wide temperature range of
-40 °C to +200 °C. The fitting has an ingress pro-
tection of IP65.
Argo offers corrosion resistance in extreme
coastal conditions and has been tested for strength,
rigidity and toughness. Additional options include
thermal monitoring of the LED PC board, a daylight
switch and dimming.
