The Lane Pictures.

In response to a request contained in a

letter from " The Friends of the National

Collections of Ireland," the Council passed a

resolution expressing

the hope

that

the

collection of pictures which belonged to the

late Sir Hugh Lane will be given to Ireland.

Juries Bill, 1927.

A report on the Juries Bill was submitted

and approved.

Land Bill, 1927,

A letter in reply was read stating that the

Minister for Lands and Agriculture would

move an amendment in Committee providing

that the President of this Society should be

consulted in the making of rules under the

Act.

Intoxicating Liquors Bill, 1927.

A letter was read from the Secretary of the

Ministry for Justice stating, in reply, that

the Minister is advised that the parties

mentioned in Sections 34 (5), 35 (4), and

36 (2) will be entitled to be legally repre–

sented at the hearings referred to in the

Sections.

It was ordered that a further

letter be written requesting that the Minister

should

in Committee have

the Sections

amended so as to remove any doubt on the

matter.

Obituary.

MR. CHARLES A. STANUELL, M.A., Solicitor,

died upon the 2nd February, 1927, at 16

Emperor's Gate, South Kensington, London.

Mr. Stanuell served his apprenticeship with

his father, the late Mr. Charles G. Stanuell;

was admitted in Hilary Term, 1877, and

practised formerly at 5 Dawson Street,

Dublin, in partnership with his father, and

subsequently at 137 St. Stephen's Green,

Dublin,

in partnership with Mr. T. A.

Ireland, under the style of Stanuell & Son,

up to 1920, when he retired.

He was a member of the Council of the

Society from 1885 to 1914, and was President

of the Society for the year 1901-02.

MR.

COURTNEY

JOHXSTON,

Solicitor,

Lurgan, died in February, 1927.

Mr. Johnston was admitted in Michaelmas

Sittings, 1888, and practised at Lurgan.

MR. MATTHEW WYLIE, Solicitor, died upon

the 9th February, 1927, at his residence,

Cranford, Osborne Park, Belfast.

Mr. Wylie was admitted in Hilary Term,

1874, and practised at 11 Chichester Street,

Belfast.

He was appointed Crown Solicitor for the

County of Down in 1903, and held this office

until 1919, when he retired.

MR. WILLIAM P. KELLY, Solicitor, died

upon

the 28th February,

1927, at his

residence, 23 Summerhill, Dun Laoghaire,

Co. Dublin.

Mr. Kelly was admitted in Hilary Term,

1875, and practised at Athlone, in partner–

ship with Mr. Henry J. Walker, under the

style of W. P. Kelly & Walker.

He was Provincial Delegate

on

the

Council of the Society for the Province of

Connaught from 1889 to 1914.

Circuit Court Appeals.

Having regard to the disposal of pending

Circuit Court Appeals by Commissioners, it

is advisable that Country Solicitors should

immediately furnish

their Dublin Agents

with particulars of pending appeals in which

they may be interested, so that they may

receive information as to the listing of the

appeals for hearing.
