MR. THOMAS ORMSBY, Solicitor, died upon

the 8th January, 1927, at his residence,

Beaumont, Blackrock, Co. Dublin.

Mr. Ormsby was admitted in Easter Term,

1866, and practised for some years prior to

his retiring in 1921, at 16 Lower Sackville

Street, Dublin, in partnership with Messrs.

R. N. Matheson and Albert E. Prentice, under

the style of Matheson, Ormsby and Prentice.

MR. SAMUEL EASTWOOD, Solicitor, died

upon the 22nd January, 1927.

Mr. Eastwood was admitted in Trinity

Sittings, 1904, and practised at 4 Upper

Ormond Quay, Dublin.

MR. ROBERT A. MULLAN, Solicitor, died

upon the 26th January, 1927, at his residence,

Cairn Hill, Newry, Co. Down.

Mr. Mullan was admitted in Hilary Term,

1869, and practised at Newry, in partnership

with his son, Mr. Frederick H. Mullan, under

the style of R. A. Mullan & Son.

MR. GERALD DALY, Solicitor, died upon the

28th January, 1927, at his residence, Carrick-

beg, Ballymahon, Co. Longford.

Mr. Daly served his apprenticeship with

Mr. T. W. Delany, Longford ;

was admitted

in Michaelmas Sittings, 1918, and practised

at Ballymahon.

Circuit Court Appeals.

The following resolution was passed by the

Council on 3rd February, and a copy

directed to be sent to

the Minister for

Justice :

Resolved : " That in the opinion of the

Council of the Incorporated Law Society

of Ireland it is urgently desirable, for the

better administration of justice in the

Saorstat,

that appeals

from Circuit

Courts should be heard on

the oral

evidence

of witnesses

and not on

stenographers' notes,

and

that

the

hearing should take place locally and

not in Dublin, and the Council earnestly

hope that the Minister for Justice will at

an early date

introduce

legislation

amending

the Courts of Justice Act,

1924, so as to give effect to the views

contained in this resolution."

The Calendar and Law Directory of the

April Examinations, 1927.

The Final Examination will be held on

4th, 5th and 6th days of April, 1927. Notice

of intention to attend should be lodged in the

Secretary's Office, 45 Kildare Street, Dublin,

before 22nd March.

The Preliminary Examination will be held

on 11th and 12th days of April, 1927. Notice

of intention to attend should be lodged in the

Secretary's Office, 45 Kildare Street, Dublin,

before 29th March.
