Solicitors' Annual Certificates

Members are reminded that their Annual

Certificates for the year ending 5th January,

1928, should be taken out, and the duties

paid thereqn, before 6th February, 1927.

The Certificates of Solicitors whose offices

are situate -in the Irish Free State are issued

in the Office of the Incorporated Law Society

of Ireland, 45 Kildare Street, Dublin, and

the duties thereon are payable at the Stamp

Office, Law Courts, Dublin Castle.

The Certificates of Solicitors whose offices

ar& situate .vin Northern^ Ireland are issued in

thetQmcejOf'thQ Incorporated Law Society of

Northern Ireland, 35 Royal Avenue, Belfast,

and the duties thereon are payable at the

Inland Revenue Office, Belfast.

Meetings of the Council.

Council Meetings,

It, .was resolved to continue the holding of

the Council Meetings on Thursdays, at half-

past two o'clock, p.m., with intervals of three

weeks between each meeting.

Provincial Delegate.

A letter was read from Mr. T. Y. Chambers,

Bailieborough, resigning his membership of

the Council as Provincial Delegate for Ulster.

Twenty-four Members present.

Election of President and Vice-Presidents.

The Council elected Mr.- W. T. Sheridan to

be President of the Society, and Mr. F.

Fottrell and Mr. P. J. Tallan to be Vice-

Presidents of the Society for the ensuing

twelve months.

Extra-Ordinary Members.

The names of the following were submitted

by the Southern Law Association to serve as

Extra-Ordinary Members of the Council for

the year ending 26th November, 1927 :

Mr. Charles Jermyn, Mr. J. J. Horgan,

Mr. P. J. Kavanagh, Mr. C. J. Lane, and

Mr. William Murphy.

Examinations.

The matter of the revision of the courses

for Intermediate and Final Examinations

for 1928 was

referred

to

the Court of

Examiners for consideration and report.

Compensation for Damages Proceedings.

A letter was read from a country member

drawing attention to questions arising on the

taxation of

the costs of Solicitors who

appeared for County and District Councils

on the hearing of claims for compensation

for damages, and the matter was referred to

the

Costs Committee.
