Half-Yearly General Meeting.
The Half-yearly General Meeting of the
Society was held on Monday, the 18th May,
in the Molesworth Hall, Dublin, Mr. Arthur
H. S. .Orpen, President, occupied the chair.

The Secretary read the notice convening
the meeting, and also the Minutes of the
Half-yearly
General Meeting
held
in
November last, which latter were confirmed
and signed.-
On the motion of Mr. W. Gordon Bradley,
Vice-President,
seconded by Mr. Daniel-
O'Connell, Messrs. W. W. Carruthers, D. B.
Dunne, and T. A. Ireland were appointed
Auditors of the Society's accounts for the
year ending 30th April, 1925.
The President nominated Messrs. E. F.
Collins, Michael Dawson, Raymond French,
F. G. Sharpe, and Nathaniel Taylor, to be
Scrutineers for the Council election ballot,
to be held on 23rd November next.
THE
PRESIDENT,
addressing
the
meeting, said: The
formal business
for
which, under our Bye-laws, this meeting has
been summoned, having been disposed of,
I desire to address to you a few words in
relation to professional matters which have
occurred since we met last November.
I wish
to refer to the losses sustained by the pro–
fession by deaths of members during the last
six months ;
many of those who died were
well known to us personally, and we feel that
their deaths will leave gaps in our ranks
which will be hard to
fill.
Sir George
Fottrell, K.C.B., who was Clerk of the Crown
for the County of the City of Dublin for a
period of forty years, and who, some years
after his appointment to that office, was
appointed to the joint office of Clerk of the
Crown and Peace, was a perfect master of
his art, and always rendered great assistance
to members of
the Solicitors' profession.
Amongst other names are those of Mr. James
W. Blake (Galway), Mr. Whiteside Dane,
D.L., Clerk of Crown and Peace for County
Kildare from 1889 to 1921 ;
Mr. James
Murray
(Lismore), Mr. Alfred Norman,
Mr. John D. Coates, Mr. James Rose Byrne,
Mr. Michael J. O'Meara (Birr), Mr. Henry A.
MacauJay (Coleraine), Mr. Cyril F. McCav

the Government have apparently not made
