Seamless steel tubes specialist
In Italy in 1977, large quantities of
seamless steel tubes seemed to be
unsalable. The owner of GERO
Gelsenkirchener Rohrhandels bought
the stock to sell in Germany, and was
quickly able to sell more than 2,000t.
That was the start of GERO in steel tube
trading, and the company is now an
internationally recognised specialist for
seamless steel tubes.
GERO was convinced from the
beginning that marketing seamless steel
tubes would become a success, and
its market performance proved it right.
As the company experienced strong
growth, a new warehouse was built,
and an office complex soon followed.
Over the years, three warehouses
with a total capacity of 22,000m² have
gone into operation. Today, GERO has
state-of-the-art warehouses that offer
maximum flexibility for storing, loading
and unloading goods.
The company’s focus has always been
on trading a large selection of seamless
standard and heavy wall steel tubes;
special heavy wall tubes with a wall
thickness of 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100mm
are available from stock. In addition,
the company supplies seamless boiler
tubes, threaded tubes and a range
of seamless steel tubes for other
applications.
According to customer requirements,
the company is able to offer additional
external inspections and processes,
including sand-blasting, coating, hot-dip
galvanising, thread cutting, de-burring,
bevelling and annealing. All products,
whether processed or not, can be cut
into individual lengths, depending on
the customer’s specifications. The
company offers a 24-hour service,
ensuring around-the-clock delivery
in Germany and Europe. This service
includes packaging, labelling and export
documentation within Europe and to
overseas destinations.
GERO will be exhibiting at the Tube
2014 trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany,
from 7 to 11 April.

Pipe connector for underground
construction
Norma Group, a specialist in engineered
joining technology, has added the
multifunctional
pipe
connector
NormaConnect Vario Pipe to its
infrastructure product offering. Vario
Pipe can be used to join drainage
pipes of different outside diameters
and materials, especially in canal and
underground construction.
“We are continuously expanding our
product range for our customers from the
construction and infrastructure sector,”
said Bernd Kleinhens, board member,
business development. “One of the
challenges when repairing underground
installations is to replace pipes with
sections of pipe made of other materials
and with different outside diameters.
With Vario Pipe, we are offering an
innovative connecting solution that is
tailored to the special requirements of
sewer and underground construction.”
The Vario Pipe connector joins
different drainage pipes with outside
diameters ranging from 100 to 1,080mm
securely and at the same level. In such
applications, the connector can bridge
even large differences in diameter of
up to 70mm without displacing the
connecting pipe.
NormaConnect Vario Pipe can be
installed quickly and easily without the
need for additional materials such as
compensation rings. The connector is
produced without welding, so it is less
susceptible to corrosion. It is also
suitable for non-standard application
areas. Norma Group markets Vario Pipe
in Europe, North and South America,
and Asia-Pacific.
