Mini clamp for
thin-walled hoses
Norma Group has launched a new ABA
Mini W1 clamp for thin-walled hoses
with small diameters, such as fuel,
pneumatic or water hoses.
The clamp has been equipped with
a band of pre-galvanised steel and
a combi slot screw, to improve the
clamp’s corrosion resistance and
allow mounting the clamp with various
tools.
“It is the small improvements that
often bring about large benefits for
our customers,” says Bernd Kleinhens,
board member, business development,
at Norma Group.
“Our optimised ABA Mini clamp grants
a bigger choice of tools when applying
our technology and thus facilitates
assembly. It also provides a better
clamping force compared to screwless
clamps.”
ABA Mini clamps feature rolled-
up band edges that are gentle
on hoses; the band tongue is
profiled for added strength.
The screw has a hexagonal
head and can be tightened
with a flexible socket.
The nut is retained even if the
screw is removed.
The new ABA Mini W1 clamp
will replace existing ranges of
ABA Mini W1 and ABA Mini
SM W1.
Hose and pipe clamps
produced under the ABA
trademark are available in many
types and standards, and are distributed
via a network of selected companies
specialising in volume distribution in
their national market segments.

Lubricant-free coating for threaded
connections
TMK has implemented Green Well –
a new technology for lubricant-free
coating for threaded connections.
Casing pipes with TMK PF premium
connections and the new coating
were used for assembling casing
columns run into the wells at Rosneft’s
Vankorskoye field.
The Green Well lubricant-free tech-
nology ensures pressure-tightness
of the casing columns without using
thread-sealing lubricants, which
reduces the sinking preparation time
by eliminating the thread cleaning
required before applying the lubricants.
Reducing preparation time as a result
of implementing the lubricant-free
technology helps oil and gas producers
cut overall production costs. In
addition, the Green Well lubricant-free
coating complies with environmental
standards and ensures safer operating
conditions.
“Oil and gas companies have very
special requirements to the quality
of pipes used in challenging climate
and geological conditions, and our
new product development programme
meets all of them,” said Sergei Bilan,
TMK’s vice president for premium
products and services.
“One of the most promising areas
for us is creating new premium
products with lubricant-free coating.
Lubricant-free pipe columns are the
technology of the future given the
environmental friendliness and high
performance of the new coating. The
launch of these innovations opens up
new opportunities for us in bidding
for contracts of Rosneft and other
Russian and international oil and gas
majors.”
TMK manufactures and supplies steel
pipes for the oil and gas industry,
operating 28 production sites in the
USA, Russia, Canada, Romania,
Oman, UAE and Kazakhstan, and two
R&D centres in Russia and the USA. In
2012, TMK’s pipe shipments totalled
4.22 million tonnes. The largest share
of sales belongs to high margin oil
country tubular goods, shipped to
customers in over 80 countries. TMK
delivers its products along with an
extensive package of services in heat
treating, protective coating, premium
connections threading, warehousing
and pipe repairing.
