Identification and
traceability solutions
for the pipe and tube
industry
INFOSIGHT Corporation designs and
manufactures automatic identification
solutions for pipe and tube mills
worldwide. InfoSight’s headquarters in
Ohio, USA, houses offices for design
and support staff, and also factory
facilities for the manufacture of all of
its products. InfoSight’s engineering
staff includes mechanical, electrical and
software designers with many decades
of combined experience for the design
of custom machinery for the pipe and
tube industry.
InfoSight provides a large selection of
marking solutions for the pipe and tube
industry – solutions that help to reduce
costs, eliminate product identification
errors and improve product traceability.
The I-DENT
®
Stencil Marking
System offers a practical, cost-effective
alternative to manually stencilling
products in an industrial environment.
The I-DENT
®
Marking System utilises
a non-contact multi-nozzle printhead
that is capable of producing a full
range of upper case alphanumeric dot-
matrix characters and logos. System
configurations are available to mark
optional InfoSight OC
®
(OptiCode
®
)
barcodes, allowing the pipes to be
marked to enable automatic machine
readable identification in the pipe mill.
InfoSight also integrates DOD (drop-
on-demand) ink jet markers from other
third party suppliers, for marking of
ambient temperature pipes and tubes.
The I-DENT
®
Stencil Marking System
is also available in a hot spray version for
printing on hot pipe surfaces up 1,800°F
(1,000°C). InfoSight fully-integrated
Jib Markers are offered to
provide marking solutions to
match the pipe mill geometry
product.
The IDLMS™ (inside
diameter laser marking
system) is the ultimate
solution when it comes to
automated ID marking of
large diameter large OD
pipe.
The IDLMS receives
downloaded data from the
mill computer, applies a
white patch to the inside
surface of a pipe, laser-
marks the paint patch,
and then optionally spray-
applies a clear protective
coating on top of the mark.
The laser mark can contain
text, graphics, and images
such as industry-standard or
company logos, and 1D or
2D barcodes. Downstream
barcode readers can cap-
ture the identification of
the pipe from the mark at
various manufacturing nodes.
The mark is designed to
withstand long-term outdoor
storage. The IDLMS can be integrated
into other systems such as an integrated
weigh-measure stencil (WMS) system
that includes ID marking capability.
The IDLMS marking technology
enables real-time identification and
tracking of LOD pipe using barcodes,
where none was available before when
using ID stencil board identification.
The InfoDent
®
Stamping System is an
industrial marking system that features
the InfoDent
®
ID8400 stamping system.
The InfoDent System is designed to
quickly and permanently stamp variable
message data onto the outside diameter
surface of pipes.
The stamping head can be integrated
into a positioning mechanism to move
the marking head into position and mark
the properly positioned product upon
customer signal.
Whether marking hot or cold products,
the inherent ruggedness and reliability
of the ID8400 and the integration
capabilities of InfoSight make this
system a suitable choice for any heavy
duty stamping application.
Barcoding is a method of marking
tubular products to enable identification
during the production process. Tubes
can be barcoded by several techniques,
including adhesive-backed paper or
polyester labels, paint marking, and
laser marking.
Each method has advantages or
disadvantages which may not be
obvious to the end user. InfoSight
offers laser-marked barcodes for pipe
inside diameter solutions, and dot-
matrix stencil-marked barcodes for pipe
outside diameter solutions.
InfoSight LabeLase
®
Tag Printers offer
a complete line of metal tag printers for
traceability and labelling of pipe bundles
or pallets. The laser-marked metal tags
can be used for many other uses in the
pipe mill.
