KeyWest

KeyWest, an island city, is part

of the Florida Keys and the

state’s southernmost point,

lying roughly 90 miles north

of Cuba. Famed for its pastel-

hued, conch-style houses and

laid-back attitude, it’s a cruise-

ship stop also accessible from

the mainland via the Overseas

Highway. It’s known more for

its coral reefs – destinations for

diving and snorkeling – than for

its beaches.

There is plenty to see and

experience in KeyWest and,

because the island is small,

nothing is very far away from

where you are. Of course there

are beaches, most of them on

the south side of the island.

From the very busy Smathers

Beach with its volleyball games

and watersport concessions to

the much quieter beach at Fort

Zachary Taylor.
