Water Tower
2
Built in 1869 the water tower
is one of the only buildings
to have survived the Great
Chicago Fire of 1871.
In the years since the fire,
the tower has become a symbol
of old Chicago and of the city’s
recovery from the fire.
Millennium Park

Opened in 2004, Millennium
Park is the second most visited
place in Chicago.
It is a prominent civic center
and is host to many public art
works, sculptures and Gardens.
The Magnificent
Mile
1
The Magnificent Mile, also
known as the Mag Mile, is an
upscale section of Chicago’s
Michigan Avenue, running from
the Chicago River to Oak Street.
Several of the tallest buildings
in the United States, such as
the John Hancock Center
and the Trump International
Hotel and Tower, lie in
the district. Landmarks along
the Magnificent Mile include
Wrigley Building, Tribune Tower,
the Chicago Water Tower,
and the Allerton Hotel.
The Magnificent Mile contains
a mixture of upscale
department stores, restaurants,
luxury retailers, residential and
commercial buildings, financial
services companies, and hotels,
catering primarily to tourists
and the affluent.
