Water Tower

Built in 1869 the water tower

is one of the only buildings

to have survived the Great

Chicago Fire of 1871.

In the years since the fire,

the tower has become a symbol

of old Chicago and of the city’s

recovery from the fire.

Millennium Park

Opened in 2004, Millennium

Park is the second most visited

place in Chicago.

It is a prominent civic center

and is host to many public art

works, sculptures and Gardens.

The Magnificent

Mile

The Magnificent Mile, also

known as the Mag Mile, is an

upscale section of Chicago’s

Michigan Avenue, running from

the Chicago River to Oak Street.

Several of the tallest buildings

in the United States, such as

the John Hancock Center

and the Trump International

Hotel and Tower, lie in

the district. Landmarks along

the Magnificent Mile include

Wrigley Building, Tribune Tower,

the Chicago Water Tower,

and the Allerton Hotel.

The Magnificent Mile contains

a mixture of upscale

department stores, restaurants,

luxury retailers, residential and

commercial buildings, financial

services companies, and hotels,

catering primarily to tourists

and the affluent.
