Charging Bull

4

Charging Bull,which is

sometimes referred to as the

Wall Street Bull or the Bowling

Green Bull, is a bronze sculpture,

originally guerilla art,

by Arturo Di Modica that stands

in Bowling Green Park

in Manhattan, NewYork.

The oversize sculpture depicts

a bull, the symbol of aggressive

financial optimism and

prosperity, leaning back on

its haunches and with its head

lowered as if ready to charge.

The bronze color and hard,

emphasizes the brute force of the

creature. The work was designed

and placed so that viewers

could walk around it,which also

suggests the creature’s own

movement is unrestricted a

point reinforced by the twisting

posture of the bull’s body.

Brooklyn Bridge

5

The Brooklyn Bridge is a hybrid

cable-stayed/suspension bridge

and is one of the oldest bridges

of either type in the United

States. Completed in 1883,

it connects the boroughs of

Manhattan and Brooklyn by

spanning the East River. You can

walk it, drive it, bike it, or just

admire it. One way or the other,

the Brooklyn Bridge soaring over

the East River is one of New York

City’s most famous routes,both

for tourists and born-and bred

New Yorkers.. The great appeal

of the Brooklyn Bridge is that

the view is all around you: Look

up to see the famous steel-cable

suspension grid, look down

at the water of the New York

harbor, Manhattan, turn back to

see the skyline views expand.
