Greystone Golf & Country Club

Message from the General Manager

Dear Members,

I hope you had a great summer at the Club. I know I am happy with some

more structure now that my kids are back in school.

We have several things happening in the food and beverage department.

Michael Edwards joins our team as the Food and Beverage Manager at

Founders. He will be responsible for all of the front of the house service

and programs with his main focus on Cellar 91. Michael comes to us from

Reynolds Plantation and prior to that he was working at Cherokee Town

and Country Club in Atlanta. Brian Lasota will be overseeing the front of the

house operation at Legacy. These gentlemen will be in their new positions

by the time you receive the newsletter and will already be making a noticeable impact. Beginning

Tuesday, September 6, we will be unveiling daily specialty programs in Cellar 91. See Page 13

for all the details. Also, the wait is over; we will host Chef’s dinner (previously called Falls Dinner)

at Legacy on Friday evenings beginning October 7.

Our 25th anniversary celebration is coming up September 28-30. On September 29, we will be

raffling off a new 3-year lease for a C-Class from Mercedes-Benz of Birmingham as part of our

Reach 1,000 Membership Campaign. You still have a couple weeks to refer a friend or colleague

for membership before the drawing. The odds are incredible based on the entries. If you refer

a golf member you receive three entries; social member 2 entries; and house member 1 entry.

You are the top source of helping Greystone reach its goal of 1,000 members. The goal of the

campaign is to stabilize dues, develop capital reserves and increase service and quality with a

larger base of members using the amenities.

Steve Smith and his team are continuing to work on some new golf trips open to all members, as

well as some fun events such as Glow Golf, Ladies Night Out, Men’s Night Out, and Big Break

Skills challenge.

One of the most important assets Greystone has are the two golf courses. We created the Golf

Stewardship program this year to focus on the care of these assets. We host a simple and

enjoyable two-hour session with Steve and Jason to review all of the proper care and etiquette

needed on the courses at Greystone to keep conditions in top playing conditions. Members

receive a special bag tag and earn shop credit based on the amount of rounds a steward plays.

There are so many exciting things happening at the Club. I cannot wait for you to enjoy yourself

with your friends and family! I look forward to seeing you around campus.

Best regards,

Dave Porter, CCM
