purpose of the Trusteeship Council was to guide the Trust Territories toward
self-government. Ideally, this purpose would be quickly fulfilled and the
Council would no longer be needed.
The members of the Trusteeship Council are the same as the five
permanent members of the Security Council—although the individual

Russian Federation, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
