Solicitors Remuneration: Schedule 2
The following General Order under the Solicitors
Remuneration Act, 1881, was laid before tbe Oireachtas
in December 1971. It will not come into operation
until one month from the date when it was laid before
each House of the Oireachtas. It will take effect on
the expiration of approximately one month unless a
negative resolution is passed in either House. The
Houses of the Oireachtas (Laying of Documents) Act
1966 defines a month as 4 weeks during each of which
there is a sitting of the House. It follows that Seanad
Eireann must hold four sitting days in four different
weeks, before this Order will have been laid before the
House. It is consequently not possible at the moment to
state exactly when the Order will come into force, but
it is hoped that this will be some time before the end of
February 1972. This order proposes to increase charges
(other than discretionary charges) under Schedule 1 by
42 per cent.
