OBITUARY.

MR. JOHN H. CALLAX, Solicitor, died upon

the 5th April, 1929, at his residence, 31 More-

hampton Road, Donnybrook, Dublin.

Mr. Callan served his apprenticeship with

the late Mr. William Scallan, 25 Suffolk

Street, Dublin; was admitted in Trinity

Sittings, 1893, and practised at 1

Suffolk

Street, Dublin.

He was a member of the Council of this

Society from 1914 to 1920, and was a Vice-

President of the Society for the year 1918-19.

MR. JOHN PRIDE, Solicitor, died upon the

8th April, 1929, at his residence " Rose-

mount," Howth, Co. Dublin.

Mr. Pride served his apprenticeship with

the late Mr. William J. Shannon, Dublin;

was admitted in Trinity Sittings, 1895, and

practised at 19 Upper Ormond Quay, Dublin,

as a member of the firm of Messrs. W. J.

Shannon & Co.

MR. PHILIP S. SMITH, Solicitor, died upon

the 12th April, 1929, at his residence, "Cnoc

Ard," Foxrock, Co. Dublin.

Mr. Smith was admitted in Hilary Sittings,

1888, and practised at 15 Lower Ormond

Quay, Dublin.

MR. TIMOTHY BYRON, Solicitor, died upon

the 12th April, 1929.

Mr. Byron served his apprenticeship with

Mr. Thomas J. Deering, 12 Lower Ormond

Quay, Dublin; was admitted in Hilary

Sittings, 1919, and was an assistant to the

Solicitor for the Board of Works, at 51 St.

Stephen's Green, Dublin.

MR. JOHN S. CONROY, Solicitor, died upon

the 19th April, 1929, at his residence, Dangan

House, Dangan, Galway.

Mr. Conroy served his apprenticeship with

Mr. George Nicolls, Galway, and Mr. George

Lynch, Dublin ; was admitted in Michaelmas

Sittings, 1918, and practised at Galway as a

member of the firm of Messrs. Conroy and

Alleni

He was Coroner for the West Riding of

County Galway.

MR. ROBERT D. WILSON, Solicitor, died

upon the 20th April, 1929, at his residence,

4 Fairfield Park, Highfield Road, Rathgar,

Co. Dublin.

Mr. Wilson served his apprenticeship with

Mr. William Deverell and Mr. Joseph H.

Montgomery, Dublin; was admitted

in

Hilary Sittings,

1904, and practised at

13 Clare Street, Dublin, as a member of the

firm of Messrs. Collis and Ward.

MR. MARCUS F. TWIGG, Solicitor, died upon

the 24th April,

1929, at his

residence,

45 Waterloo Road, Dublin.

Mr.

Twigg was

admitted

in Trinity

Sittings, 1894, and practised at 36 Moles-

worth Street, Dublin.

MR. HERBERT T. WHITAKER, Solicitor,

died upon 29th April, 1929, at Belfast.

Mr. Whitaker served his apprenticeship

with Mr. Samuel Ross, Belfast; was admitted

in Trinity Sittings, 1899, and practised at

35 High Street, Belfast.

APPOINTMENTS.

Notary Public.

Mr. Vincent P. McMullin, Solicitor, Bally-

bofey, has been appointed a Notary Public

for the County of Donegal.

Commissioners to Administer Oaths.

The following have been appointed Com

missioners to administer Oaths :—

Mr. Thomas R. T. Callan, Solicitor,

1 Suffolk Street, Dublin.

Mr. William J. Keery, Solicitor, 19-20

Fleet Street, Dublin.

Foreign Commissioner to Administer Oaths.

Mr. R. J. Aiken, Solicitor, Londonderry,

has been appointed Commissioner for the

State of New York, for Londonderry and

district.

PROFESSORSHIP OF COMMON LAW.

The Council will, on Thursday, llth July,

elect a Professor of Common Law to the

Society, in room of Mr. Michael Dawson,

Solicitor, whose term of office will expire at

the end of Trinity Sittings. The new Pro

fessor will enter upon his duties next October.

The appointment will be made for one year,

and the person appointed will be eligible

for re-appointment for each of

the four

succeeding years.
