they may give others the impression that their true personality is

troublesome. But these girls may be trapped by their symptoms.

They desperately need someone to understand.

One young woman dropped out of school, went from job to job,

and ignored her family; her mother only began to see the correlation

between her daughter’s behavior and her menstrual cycle after she

found the young woman hunched over in a corner suffering from

an overdose of drugs. After seeking help—and getting treatment

for her PMDD—the young woman went back to school at night and

started her life over.
