Even oceanographers can learn in space. By looking down from the

space station, they can see huge areas of the ocean. Special cameras can

record the growth of algae in the water, or can see how currents move.

Engineers, of course, find lots to do in space. They help operate and

maintain the ISS, while also trying out new gear to see how it works

in space. The lessons they take back to Earth will help make future

missions better and safer.

Being an astronaut certainly includes the excitement of launch

and the wonder of seeing Earth from space. But it also means using

scientific knowledge to help everyone.
