prioritises the most efficient vehicle
settings including automatic transmission*
and comfort features like heating and air
conditioning in order to minimise fuel
consumption and CO

emissions.
The ECO Data feature provides drivers
with information and feedback via the
Touchscreen to help them adopt more
economical driving habits.
OPTIMISED AERODYNAMICS
With its more streamlined profile,
Discovery Sport is one of the most
aerodynamic Land Rover vehicles.
LIGHTWEIGHT MATERIALS
To optimise vehicle performance and
efficiency, Discovery Sport has been
developed using lightweight materials
and technologies. The vehicle has
been designed with key weight-saving
technologies including an optimised steel
body construction, aluminium bonnet, roof
and tailgate panels, lightweight aluminium
suspension components and a magnesium
cross car beam and front end carrier.
The 4 Wheel Drive (4WD) components have
also been optimised for weight. The interior
has also been designed with efficiency in
mind, with optimised seat structures which
use laser-welded high tensile steel.
LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT
In order to minimise the vehicle’s overall
ecological impact, Discovery Sport is
designed with a life cycle approach,
aiming to minimise the environmental
impact by considering the entire life
cycle of the vehicle: from development
and manufacturing, through customer
use, to end-of-life recycling and re-use.
Each element of the life cycle was analysed
with a view to consuming fewer natural
resources, using more sustainable materials
and minimising the generation of waste.
