Biological Target Volume

A

biological target volume

is defined based on functional

rather than anatomical imaging.

The BTV is often a sub volume within a traditional GTV or CTV

that has been anatomically delineated.

It can represent an area of increased activity within the tumour

volume or an area of presumed resistance where by we want to

increase the dose to this region.
