With the Ball over it is time to focus on readying ourselves for the opening of the club.
Approving Rendezvous' in a way that benefits the membership, readying for the Elite Brigade
and work party events. Although the cold might make spring seem far away, it’s truly right
around the corner.
Mark your calendars with the save to dates to participate.
Rear-Commodore’s Comments:
Rear Commodore, Pat Carroll
I would like to start off by congratulating Commodore Brian and his wife Renee for the fantastic
job they did in hosting the Commodore's Ball. From the set up and pre party, the dinner,
program, great entertainment and after party, everything was first class. Thank you.
If you read my February Beacon article, I mentioned our new orientation program. I really
believe this is the best way to bring our new members into the club and make them feel
comfortable and welcome. The orientation will be held on at least two different dates, more if
needed, and will be at the club. Any member is welcome to attend.
The outline of the program covers the club policies and by laws. It will also cover the bar, the
new POS system, and clubhouse, grounds and activities. We will announce the dates in early
April. If you would like to help out, please let me know. My goal in developing this orientation
program is to make all of our new (and existing) members aware of our policies, by laws, and
how we operate. This will allow us to get to know each other in a more relaxed and
comfortable atmosphere, without the distraction that follows the May General Membership
Meeting.
First Mates Presentation: President Mary Marini
Mary led a discussion about changing Sam's room, at the top of the stairs, from a storage office
into additional sleeping quarters. She also indicated that any historical documents found in
that office will be preserved and stored. Mary also handed out a flyer of possible images of the
converted space.
Motion:
Moved by VC Chuck Stroh to approve the change from the office to
an additional bedroom. Seconded by Don Reiss.
Motion Carried.
Marie Pepin presented the Board with packets with First Mate Information to be given at new
member interviews. The packets include a copy of the First Mates roster, welcome letter and
an application for membership.
