The dance workout
that blasts calories
and keeps things fun
Zumba combines Latin and International
music with a fun and effective workout
system. With classes and instructors at
Frenchman’s Creek, anyone can join the
party!
During the class you'll dance a different
routine to each of 9 to 12 songs, moving to
a mix of Latin rhythms (salsa and
merengue) as well as hip-hop, country and
disco. Each session includes a warm-up
and cool down; some classes incorporate
squats and jumps. Bottom line: You won't
be bored!
To join Zumba you don't need to have
moves like J.Lo. Research shows that fit
and less-fit people can get an equally good
workout doing Zumba. It's more about
moving than getting the dance. While you
may feel klutzy at first, you will get better,
don't worry about coordination, after a
few classes you will fill comfortable.
Learning the new dances is great mental
exercise. As with any cardiovascular
workout, the benefits of Zumba can
include calorie burn— this workout can
erase almost 600 calories per hour. You're
constantly switching between high and
low intensities, so it's a great interval
workout. The moves also increased
aerobic threshold, more stamina,
increased bone density, improved balance
and muscle tone, less body fat, and lower
blood pressure.
Sometimes people go for therapy,
sometimes they go for social connections,
sometimes they love to dance and there's
no time. Zumba is the perfect excuse.
