Tube Russia 2008, held from 27-30 May
2008, gave further evidence that the
Russian economy and industry is currently
booming. Held alongside Metallurgy-
Litmash,
Aluminium/Non-Ferrous,
Metalloobrabotka and Schweißen &
Schneiden, Tube Russia 2008 again took
place at Moscow’s Krasnaya Presnya ZAO
Expocentr fairgrounds.
The event attracted around 8,800 visitors
from all corners of the Russian Federation
and its neighbouring countries, together
with an enlarged contingent of international
attendees. Overall, around ten per cent
more visitors attended than at the previous
comparable event in 2006.
Spread across a net exhibition area of
roughly 4,650m
2
, 316 exhibitors from 22
countries showcased their products and
services at the event. The majority
of exhibitors (165) came from
outside Russia and the remaining
151 from the host nation. Officially
backed joint presentations were put
together by Germany, Italy, Austria
and China
The event is organized by Messe
Düsseldorf, its subsidiary Messe
Düsseldorf Moscow, and Russian
partner Metal Expo. The show is
sponsored by the International
Tube Association (ITA), and Frankfurt-
based Verband Deutscher Maschinen
und Anlagenbau (German Engineering
Federation – VDMA).
Tube Russia has established itself as a
leading platform for trade and contacts in
the Russian foundry, metallurgy, aluminium
and tube industries. Due to high prices on
the global markets, Russia’s metallurgy
industry is in a strong financial position.
According to the German Office for Foreign
Trade (bfai), the country’s seven biggest
steel companies alone racked up combined
sales of US$25 billion in 2006, producing
US$8.5 billion in profits.
The concurrent staging of two thematically
related fairs was a source of further
synergies for exhibitors and visitors at Tube
Russia. Messe Essen was responsible
for Schweißen & Schneiden Russia
2008, which featured 67 exhibitors from
ten countries and their plant, materials,
processes and services from the world
of welding technology. Metalloobrabotka
– the Russian trade fair for metalworking
equipment and tools – also took place from
26-31 May.
The next Tube Russia will take place in
Moscow from 12-15 May 2009 in tandem
with Metallurgy-Litmash, Aluminium/Non-
Ferrous and wire Russia 2009.
