Leicestershire branch

Christmas social

Leicestershire members and partners visited Leicestershire Police HQ for our

annual Christmas Social. A fun evening of games and other festivities included

‘Play Your Cards Right’, a Prize Swap card game and a ‘Beetle Drive’ using

snowmen and Christmas trees.

The Chair, Clive Wood, welcomed everyone, including National President Mick

Luke, who took the opportunity to present a lifetime honorary membership award

to Bob Gunnell. Bob has served for many years on the committee for our Branch,

the Camping and Caravanning Section and has long been a Branch Rep for Region

5 meetings. He now holds the position of Branch Secretary. He has also been

instrumental in ensuring that the IPA Race Trophy Days have continued despite

many problems in recent years. It is presently held at Mallory Park Racing Circuit in

Leicestershire and is able to continue there in no small part due to his endeavours.

Another presentation was made by Clive Wood, who is also the Chair for Region 5.

He called on an unsuspecting Fred Rankin, who is the Treasurer for Leicestershire

Branch and the Minute Secretary for Region 5. Fred has been involved in arranging

many functions for the IPA and has worked particularly hard in the Twinning Section

of Leicester City Council to maintain a close and valuable working link with Krefeld in

Germany, the twin city of Leicester. He also produces the Branch Magazine and has

been an ambassador for the IPA family for many years. His efforts were rewarded by

Clive presenting him with a certificate of Signal Service.

No1 Region

held

their

AGM

on

Sunday 5 March

At the meeting Jim Nisbet stood down as Regional Treasurer

after 22 years.

Mick Luke, Section UK President, presented him with an

engraved Quaich and bottle of Whisky from the Region as a

token of their appreciation.

Mick also presented Peverley McChlery and Alastair Dinsmor’s

with their 50 year Certificates and gifts.
