Bikeways, Trails, Parks and Recreation Master Plan

Work with Caltrain and major employers to ensure there is adequate short-
and long-term secure bicycle parking for bicycle commuters.

Focus the addition of new bicycle parking facilities at destinations,
especially Downtown, including development of the bike hub site.

Coordinate development of the bikeways and trail network with regional
partner agencies and organizations.
Actions
B7-1.
Support General Plan Policy TR-8.4 by coordinating development of the
bikeways and trails network with the VTA Cross County Corridors, Santa
Clara Countywide Trails Master Plan, the Santa Clara Countywide Bicycle
Plan, the South County Joint Area Plan, the Santa Clara County Bicycle
Technical Guidelines, and the California Department of Transportation
Highway Design Manual.
B7-2.
Support General Plan Policy TR-8.11 for multi-jurisdictional alignments by
developing partnerships with Santa Clara County to plan, finance,
implement, and maintain the bikeways system.
B7-3.
Evaluate opportunities to coordinate trail alignments along the future
California High Speed Rail line.
B7-4.
Partner with the Santa Clara Valley Open Space Authority on the
development and maintenance of trails on the El Toro Mountain.
B7-5.
Create an east-west connection to Coyote Creek Trail via a Burnett Ave
bridge, per General Plan Policy TR-8.8.
B8.
Design all bikeways and trails to meet or exceed the latest federal, state,
and local design guidelines.

B8-1.
Conduct engineering studies for new bikeways, using design standards that
are consistent with regional guidelines and current nationally-recognized
guides. Resources include:
