Conference 1990

The Great Southern

Hotel, Galway

6-8th April 1990

The Society of Young Solicitors is

delighted to announce that it is

holding the first ever joint confer-

ence in Ireland with its kindred

Associations from England and

Wales, Northern Ireland and

Scotland.

The weekend activities will be

based in the Great Southern Hotel,

Eyre Square, Galway. The speakers

will include.

- Judge Donal Barrington

- Gerald FitzGerald of McCann

FitzGerald

- A panel of speakers comprising

Finbarr Murphy (Group Legal

Adviser to Bank of Ireland and co-

author of "European Commun-

ity Law in Ireland"), Greg Myles

(Northern Ireland Solicitor and

author of "EEC Brief") and

Michael Dean (a Scottish Sol-

icitor practising in London).

The unifying theme of the Con-

ference will be E.C. law which is

increasingly part of a solicitor's

day-to-day practice.

Social activities will not be ne-

glected either and every oppor-

tunity will be given for the exchange

of views between Young Solicitors

from each of the four jurisdictions.

The weekend will kick off on Friday

evening when amongst the activ-

ities will be traditional music and a

disco at the Great Sourthern Hotel.

On Saturday afternoon a range of

activities are being organised in-

cluding a tennis tournament for the

energetic and tours around the

sights and hostelries of Galway and

Connemara. The social highlight of

the weekend' will be the Gala

Banquet on Saturday night.

SOUTH WEST

Our client, a busy and active firm of solicitors based in the South West, requires an

experienced solicitor with the energy, drive and commitment to make a major

contribution to the success of its practice.

The successful appointee will have main responsibility for the conveyancing and

probate work of the practice but will also need to have a good knowledge of all aspects

of Law in order to assist colleagues in other areas of general practice.

Applicants should be qualified solicitors in the late 20's/earlv 30's age group, with

at least four years' post-qualification experience in relevant aspects of Law. The ideal

person will show enthusiasm for undertaking and completing tasks within tight

deadlines: have strong interpersonal skills in dealing with clients and managing staff:

and possess good organisational ability in implementing and maintaining efficient

practice systems.

This position, which will offer excellent career development potential, provides an
