Contract awarded
Technip has been awarded by Statoil an engineering,
procurement, construction and installation lump-sum contract
for the Norne field development, located in the Norwegian
Sea at a water depth of approximately 380m.
The contract covers the engineering and fabrication of two
flexible smoothbore gas export risers; marine operations to
remove one existing roughbore riser connecting the Norne
floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit with
the gas export pipeline, and replace it with one of the new
flexible smoothbore risers; and provision of the second
flexible smoothbore gas export riser on a reel to Statoil as a
spare for future use.
Technip’s operating centre in Oslo, Norway, will execute the
contract, which is scheduled for completion in the second
half of 2014. Fabrication of the risers will take place in the
group’s Flexi France plant in Le Trait, France. Offshore
installation will be executed with the
Normand Progress
, a
flexible pipelay vessel from the Technip fleet.

Shubhlaxmi
becomes recognised
export house
Shubhlaxmi Metals And Tubes, a manufacturer and exporter
of stainless steel seamless and welded pipes, tubes and ‘U’
tubes, has been awarded an Export House certificate by the
Government of India, Ministry of Commerce and Industry,
in recognition of its performance in exporting its products
around the world. The certificate marks Shubhlaxmi as a
government-recognised export house unit.
Shubhlaxmi anticipates that the certification will help the
company to grow its business, particularly with respect to
new orders and upcoming projects. To fulfil ever-growing
requirements for stainless steel pipes and tubes in the fields
of nuclear industry, pharmaceutical industry, chemical and
petro chemical industry, and power industry, the company has
already started to establish a new unit adjacent to its existing
manufacturing plant, with latest-technology machinery for
production of seamless pipes, tubes and ‘U’ tubes.
Managing director Pinesh Shah commented, “This certificate
is another feather on Shubhlaxmi’s cap which is only possible
with help of our esteemed clients. It will not only boost our
business in the international market, but also add value to our
growing organisation.”
