APPOINTMENT OF THREE JUDGES OF THE DISTRICT COURT

Notice is hereby given that three vacancies exist in the O f f i ce

of O r d i n a ry J u d ge of the District Court and that the Minister

for Justice has requested the Board u n d er Section 16 of the

A ct to e x e r c i se its p o w e rs u n d er that section a nd to m a ke

r e c o mm e n d a t i o ns pursuant to it.

P r a c t i s i ng B a r r i s t e rs o r S o l i c i t o rs w h o a re e l i g i b le f o r

a p p o i n t m e nt to the O f f i ce and w h o wish to be considered for

a p p o i n t m e nt should apply in writing to the Secretary of the

Board, O f f i ce of the Chief Justice, Four Courts, Dublin 7, for

a c o py of the form to be c omp l e t e d. C o m p l e t ed f o r ms should

be returned to the Board's Secretary on, or b e f o re the 12th

April, 1996.

Applicants m ay at the discretion of the Board he required to

attend for interview.

PROFESSORSHIP OF LAW

Applications are invited for the above vacant post. Applicants should have an established scholarly

reputation in any major field of law, coupled with extensive teaching and course development experience and

be capable of demonstrating the capacity to provide intellectual, organisational and administrative leadership

to a vibrant Law Department, which has recently embarked on a substantial expansion of its range of

services.

The appointee will be responsible for leading a department with a complement of approximately 15 full-time

academic staff plus part-time lecturers providing BCL, LLB and LLM as well as evening law programmes to

a total of about 350 law students. The Department also makes a major contribution to programmes in the

Faculty of Commerce and is about to launch a new initiative in Law and Language degrees.
