The UPM Uruguay Group (UPM and
Forestal Oriental) understands its so-
cial responsibility to the communities
with which it is linked as a set of acti-
vities that promote long-term develop-
ment and growth and that are carried
out jointly with other social stakehol-
ders.
Most of its actions aimed at the deve-
lopment of the communities where it
operates are channelled through the
UPM Foundation. The Foundation’s
objective, since its creation, has been
to support projects and programmes
aimed at improving the quality of life
of the inhabitants of the area of in-

OBJECTIVE
The UPM Foundation supports pro-
jects with a specific duration and spe-
cific objectives, seeking to promote an
improvement in the quality of life of
the residents of the 96 communities
that make up the area of operations.
Social organisations and local stake-
holders are the main allies in achieving
compliance with the mission and in
having an impact on the communities.
UPM Forestal Oriental seeks to establish a balanced and
long-term relationship with its employees, suppliers, service
providers and customers, as well as with neighbouring
communities and the environment. All of these are
fundamental to the company’s development policy.
