RSA, Germany, has launched two new
sawing centres that aim to start a trend in
the pre-production of tube and sections. The
sawing centres are ideal for specialisation
in product quality, and enable a transition to
flexible production.
The variety of workpiece shapes and
materials is increasing, and restrictive
quality
specifications
require
high
production knowledge. RSA’s new sawing
centres complement its existing range of
products, and as a result six types are
now available. Each sawing centre meets
specific demands, but with a flexible
design that facilitates the processing of a
wide spectrum of workpieces for optimum
production.
The Rasacut SK sawing centre was
developed for high precision and high
performance cutting and deburring of short
tubes from 20mm in length. In view of such
short lengths, the handling of the tubes
and the complete, reproducible deburring
represents a particular challenge.
RSA presents a process-reassured
solution that improves operating sequence
and quality, not only during sawing, but
also during deburring. The use of high
performance brushes provides advantages
over the usual vibratory deburring. The
sawing centre can also be expanded, with
modules for checking and cleaning.
RSA has also developed the Rasacut XXL
sawing centre for cutting tubes and solid
bars up to 170mm diameter. Previously, this
dimensional range was the domain of band
saws.
According to customers using this new
circular saw, cutting time is reduced by up to
90 per cent compared to modern band saws.
In addition, the quality of the cut surface has
improved in relation to perpendicularity and
surface roughness. The sawing centre can
consist of modules for deburring, checking,
cleaning, and stacking.

www.rsa.deLatest order for PQF
seamless tube plant
Vallourec & Sumitomo Tubos do Brasil
(VSB) has ordered a new PQF
®
(Premium
Quality Finishing) seamless tube plant from
SMS Meer, Germany. The new, state-of-the-
art tube plant will have an annual capacity
of 600,000t and be primarily used for the
production of seamless OCTG (Oil Country
Tubular Goods), with diameters up to 16".
The plant, to be built in the state of Minas
Gerais, Brazil, is scheduled to start
production in 2010. SMS Meer will supply all
the key components of the mill equipment
for the PQF plant, including the media
systems and the technological automation.
The scope of supply also includes project
management, supervision of erection and
commissioning, and training of operating
personnel.
Machines for tube grinding
and polishing
Sibo snc, Italy, specialises in the manufacture of automatic and semi-automatic,
mechanical and CNC machines, to grind, satin and polish tube, bars, flat surfaces and
profiles. The machinery can handle products made from stainless steel, iron, aluminium,
brass and other materials.
The company’s 2LU models allow the user to satin/grind straight and curved tubes,
with round and oval section. Depending on the requirements, the company supplies
different machines to work items with
diameters from 5mm to 200mm. It is
also possible to equip some models
with a device to work with water.
The SSP/300 machine is able to
grind/satin flat or slightly curved
surfaces, for pieces with a maximum
width of 300mm and height of
150mm. A special version –
2SSP/300 – is available, featuring
two heads, allowing a belt for rough
machining to be mounted on the first head, and a belt for finishing on the second. The
machine works both with dry and wet systems, while there is an option to use either a
fixed belt or a swinging belt.
The company supplies the LSP/400 to polish/grind plates, for pieces with a maximum
length and width of 300mm and maximum height of 150mm. The LDT/100 and LDT/2500
machines are suitable for polishing round and oval tubes of lengths up to 1,000mm and
2,500mm (respectively). Sibo can also supply customised machines, based on specific
customer requirements.
