industry descends on Connecticut, and the Mohegan Sun

Batteries with an almost unlimited lifespan could become a
reality – thanks to a new nanowire-based material.
Developed by a team from the University of California, the
batteries use manganese dioxide to protect gold nanowires in a
Plexiglas-like electrolyte gel. The gel prevents the gold nanowires
– thousands of times thinner than a human hair – from cracking
and becoming brittle, normal when charging and discharging.

Illinois Tool Works is buying Engineered Fasteners and
Components from ZF TRW for approximately $450m.
