According to an undated report by GEF et al. there are
87 urban settlements within the Lake Victoria Basin,
of which the biggest are Mwanza, Bukoba, Musoma,
Kampala, Jinja, Entebbe, Masaka, Kisumu, Homa Bay
and Kendu Bay. While Kampala largely lies outside the
Lake Victoria Basin, the city has over the years been
expanding into the Basin, forming a megacity with
neighbouring Entebbe on the lake's shoreline.
