Operating Procedures:
Vetting AOAC Expert Review Panels
Role of OMB:
1.
To vet proposed Expert Review Panel members and chair
2.
To modify Expert Review Panel roster with additions or subtraction of members
Definitions:
Expert Review Panel One or more stakeholder(s) and project sponsors, who define the priorities
under which AOAC initiates project with a stakeholder panel.
Vetting Expert Review Panels (ERP):
1.
AOAC identifies potential ERP members based on issued Call for Experts and other recruiting
methods.
2.
AOAC Chief Science Officer (CSO) reviews credentials and a recommendation is made to OMB
3.
OMB reviews candidate expertise, credentials, and balance of overall ERP
4.
OMB reviews, deliberates, and modifies slate of ERP members as needed and reaches a consensus
decision on the ERP roster and ERP chair
5.
OMB approved roster is forwarded to AOAC President for AOAC volunteer appointment
6.
OMB reviews Expert Review Panel members as needed based on recommendations from AOAC
staff, ERP chair and CSO recommendation
