orange-peel,

ounces
broken
nutmeg,
and
let
it
lie
for

days
;
then
add
again

gallons
water,
and
8
gallons
of
the
mentioned
syrup
;
and
in
a
few
days
you
may
draw
it
off".

Cordial.

pure
rectified
whiskey
;
cut
up
in
alcohol

drachms
oil
of
peppermint
in
1
quart
alcohol,
and
let
it
stand
1
or
2
days,
then
add
it
to
the
whiskey
;
after
this,
add
30
gallons
water,
and
10
gallons
simple
syrup.
Mix
all
well
together,
and,
if
not
clear,
fine
it
by
dissolving
1|
pounds
alum
in
2|
quarts water,
and
add
to
the
cordial
;
stir
it
for
5
or
10 minutes,
then
let
it
stand
for
10
days.
