sometimes
occasioned
by
wounds
or
contusions
in
the
head,
that
are
attended with
violent
inflamma-
tions
of
the
vessels,
and,
if
not
speedily
relieved,
may
terminate
in
a
gangrene
or
a
mortitication,
which
is
very
often
the
case,
and
that
in
a
few
days.

In
the
cure
of
this
disease,
the
following
method
must
be
attended
to.
First,
lessen
the
quantity
of
blood
by
frequent
bleeding,
which
may
be
repeated
daily,
if
required,
and
by
which
the
great
efflux
of
blood
upon
the
temporal
arteries
will
be
lessened
and
much
retarded.
The
following
purgative
drink
will
be
found
suitable
for
this
disease,
and
like\vise
for
most
fevers
of
an
inflammatory
nature.
Take
of
Glauber's
salts,
1
pound;
tartarized
anti-
mony,
1
drachm;
camphor,
2
drachms;
molasses,
4
ounces.
Mix,
and
put
the
whole
into
a
pitcher,
and
pour
3
pints
of
boiling
water
upon
them.
When
new-
milk-warm,
add
laudanum,
J
ounce,
and
give
it
all
for
one
dose.
This
drink
will
in
general
operate
briskly
in
the
space
of
20
or
30
hours;
