JB hi-FI now: 2014!

At Victoria’s Meredith

Music Festival,

Courtney Barnett –

who wasn’t even on

the bill – guested

with ’90s icon Evan

Dando and drew

as many cheers as

The Lemonheads

singer. It spoke volumes on how her star had

risen in 2014: an acclaimed EP, a Glastonbury

appearance, and a rush of critical acclaim the

world over. Stream her EP

A Sea of Split Pea

What’s Your 20?

You don’t have to be a total music tragic to work at JB Hi-Fi NOW, but it helps!

With over 20 million individual tracks available on the service, and new albums,

compilations and mixes added to JB Hi-Fi NOW every day, it’s been a shower of

riches for us music die-hards all year! It’s hard to keep abreast of it all, but hey,

that’s a nice problem to have. So, to some of our 2014 favourites. On the local

front, Big Scary offshoot

#1 Dads

impressed us with

About Face

, as did Damon

Albarn’s new best friend (and AIR award winner)

REMI

with

Raw X Infinity

.

Electronic music’s biggest oddball,

AphexTwin

, was back after 13 years with

Syro

,

while newcomer (and Laneway act)

FKATwigs

brought us a world of beats and

flavours.

SIA

made a pop record, but because she’s SIA, it was a brilliant, funny

and clever pop record, and we couldn’t get enough of

TheWar on Drugs’

Lost In

the Dream

, somewhere between Springsteen and Arcade Fire. JB Hi-Fi Now is a

world of music to discover: see you there in 2015!

(

She & Him (Zoe Deschanel and M.Ward) have interpreted thirteen quintessential gems on Classics , featuring timeless standards by singers such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Elvis Costello, Aretha Franklin, and Van Morrison. In honour of the full-bodied sound of the originals, it’s all recorded live.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT ON JB HI-FI NOW

Hear this here FIRST! These three

London siblings are really something.

Their third album (yes, entitled

Third

)

sees them under the wing of one

Mr Mick Jones, he of The Clash, Big

Audio Dynamite and lately, Gorillaz.

Recorded completely live to analogue

tape (this band are so old school one

of them collects 78 rpm vinyl),

Third

is imbued with rhythm and blues,

ska, jazz, and soul. It’s a bit of a love

letter to their hometown: this album

is one for the music lovers.
