MODEL BUILDING

Forces, Energy & Motion

K'NEX

The racer set curriculum is organized

as a series of objectives achieved through class-

room discussion and laboratory exercises. Stu-

dents investigate potential and kinetic energy,

and identify the differences between energy

associated with position and condition.

An exciting, hands-on opportunity to address fundamental physical science

concepts. Build 11 models, up to 4 at a time. Supports 12- 16 students

working in teams.

Includes

442 K'NEX rods & connectors, 2 battery motors, 2 flywheel mo-

tors, 4 transparent spring motors, 80-page Educator Guide w/8 extensive

lesson plans, 7 inquiry-based lesson plans etc. w/Teacher's Guide & plastic

Energy, Motion &Aeronautics

K'NEX

Students to investigate a variety of

concepts related to Newton's Laws and aero-

nautics. These concepts include aeronautics as

it applies to force and motion as well as the ef-

fects on individuals who work and live in space.

The teacher's guide follows a modified version

of the 5E instructional model – Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and

Evaluate. Students will use the Scientific Inquiry and the Engineering De-

sign Processes extensively throughout the lessons as they explore, create,

invent, and innovate. Lessons include worksheets, key terms, design briefs,

design challenges, research and design logs, and rubrics. Supports 6 - 9 stu-

dents working in teams.

Includes

1,430 K'NEX pieces, building instruction booklets, comprehensive

teacher's guide w/9 lessons, student worksheets & answer sheet.
