Danfoss, India, manufactures the VLT®
brand of frequency converters, and
has already supplied more than 2,000
variable frequency inverters to the
Indian wire and cable industry.
The company’s new VLT® Automation
Drive is designed to meet the demand
of all critical applications, be it an
extrusion line, a take-up and traverse,
a drum twister, a stranding machine or
a wire drawing machine. Its powerful
control software enables it to be freely
programmed to run applications
including open-loop vector control,
close-loop flux vector control or
permanent magnet AC motor control.
The built-in Smart Logic Controller
eliminates use of a micro-PLC, saving
capital cost and ensuring less hardware
in the overall system. The drive is
designed for an ambient temperature
of 50°C, enabling it to be used in
countries like India, where temperature
during summer reaches as high as
47°C. The user has the option of either
a numerical keypad or a graphical key-
pad. The graphical keypad displays
trending as per the user requirements.
A built-in USB port enables connection
to PC (for programming) without re-
quiring a special cable. The drive can
be run on any industry-acceptable
communication platform, including
ProfiBus DP, ModBus, ModBus Plus
and DeviceNet.

Delisi Srl, Italy, produces automatic
straightening and cutting machines for
smooth and ribbed wires from 1mm to
20mm in diameter.
An advantage of the company’s
machines is the speed with which
new diameters can be programmed.
The grooves of the rolls are positioned
with a handwheel, three bolts are
slackened, the straightening unit is
changed, and the three bolts are re-
tightened. The process takes around
one minute. The spinner works at
lower speed, as the jaws have longer
contact with the wire. An electronic
programmer and one or three lines
of pneumatically tiltable arms can
be supplied with rod collection bed.
99 different lengths and 99 different
quantities can be programmed and
collected separately in one of the lines
of tiltable arms, without stopping the
machine, and allowing the operator to
empty the lower line of tilting arms.

industries. HICON/H2® bell type
furnace annealing technology was
established for wire and rod in the
early 1970s. Wire and wire rod coils
are placed on carriers – thinner gauges
wound on spools – are charged on the
HICON® base and annealed preferably
in pure hydrogen.
This ensures lubricants evaporate easily
with selected annealing technology to
provide a clean oxide-free surface.

For more than 60 years, Eder

packaging lines designed for high
productivity and flexibility. The company
manufactures five ranges of automatic
coil winding lines – Mautomatic 300
Evolution, 400, 500, 600 and MAC –
and two ranges of automatic spool
winding lines – MAB 350 and 630.
The Mautomatic 300 Evolution
automatic coil winding line packages
six coils per minute. The Mautomatic
600 R version has been manufactured
to coil bare copper cable up to 95mm2
cross section.
The MAC and B-MAC are economical,
automatic and compact coilers and/or
spoolers. MAC is designed to satisfy
the requirements of small and large
cable producing companies that have
to package many different types of
cables in small quantities.
It is suitable for cable diameters from
2mm (0.5mm2 cross section) up to
15mm, with an approximate production
of 10,000m/hr. It is also possible to
package bare copper cable up to
35mm2 cross section.
